Welcome, new readers

While the blog is still set to invitation-only, more friends and relatives are starting to have access as the word spreads. I want to take a moment to introduce them to this blog.

This blog began near the start of 2011, with the announcement that we were expecting a baby due in November. That was our second pregnancy, and it only lasted three months. Consequently, the mood of this blog swings from excited to scared to very very sad, and then slowly climbs back up out of that sadness. But it still dips into it now and then, and certainly will again next month when my original due date rolls around.

Sadness is a part of life. Without it, how would we know what happy is? And I know from the events throughout my past that it is indeed possible to find happiness after a loss of any kind. Depending on your own background, you may want to skip the sad posts, and that's fine - I don't blame you. All of the May and June posts are likely to be sad ones, and there are a few scattered through the following months as well. In most cases it'll be pretty easy to identify from either the title or the first few sentences, and you can simply skip to the next one.

So - that's your warning. This isn't your typical sunshine-and-roses, everything-is-perfect expecting blog. Even when things are going well, we worry that they won't stay that way. But I hope that, over the next few months, the amount of happy will drastically outweigh the amount of sad.

Let's find out!
